AUSTRALIAN media personality Tom Williams was recently in town for an industry forum on lightweight construction.
More than 100 people in Perth’s residential and light commercial building sector attended the event at Aloft Perth.
Mr Williams, who is Truecore steel’s brand ambassador, also toured the Summit Homes Group’s new headquarters, including the Style Studio, and purpose-built factory in Myaree.
Summit Homes Group started using Bluescope’s Truecore steel in 2010 and offers steel-framed housing in its Home Improvement, Granny Flats and New Home builds.
“We manufacture our steel frames in our purpose-built, all-weather facility which can operate 24 hours a day and this controlled environment not only ensures the frames are built to exact specifications but helps reduce the chance of delays,” company chief operating officer David Hunt said.
“We’ve also met the challenge of speeding up second-storey home renovations with a revolutionary approach to building.
“The key advantage of this method of building is that homeowners can stay living in their homes whilst the upper-storey module is being constructed offsite, which is later transported and craned in.
“And as there are less rain delays, we can more accurately forecast the build time which is really helpful to our clients.”
Mr Hunt said Truecore steel frames were termite and borer proof, durable, dimensionally accurate and cost effective.
“From a builder’s point of view, it’s terrific to work with and we believe lightweight steel framing made from Truecore steel is the future, which is why we’ve invested so heavily,” he said.
