7 Party Clean-Up Tips

7 Party Clean-Up Tips

Who’s pumped for the final??? It’s so close now that the trophy is almost within our reach! No doubt you’ve got a fabulous party planned with your mates and family (I’m so ready) which could go all night depending on the winner.

A fun party going all night, that’s a good thing. The cleaning afterwards though? That can be a total bummer, particularly if you’re feeling a little bit (or a lot) under the weather from the shenanigans the night before. There are some super simple steps you can take however to make the next day’s tidying a breeze rather than a burden.

  1. Empty and pack away beforehand. On Saturday morning make sure you have cleaned and put away all your cutlery and crockery so you’re not piling dirty plates on dirty stacks later. Empty all your bins and replace with fresh bags and put liners underneath to soak up any liquids. Once you’ve finished your food prep run the dishwasher for all those pots and bowls and get them out of your hair early.
  2. Think disposable. Got a big gang coming and wanting to minimise the clean-up? Purchase some recyclable disposable plates and cups to avoid all the crockery cleaning later.
  3. Be ready for mess. Place your bins strategically around the party area and leave out side tables for guests to automatically leave their glassware and left overs so that all your mess is in one place and you don’t have to hunt for it. Pack away any white and/or hard to clean materials and replace with machine washable covers.
  4. Be strategic with small nibbles and sauces. Thinking about your food options can save you a lot of headaches. You’ve got to have your pies and sausage rolls on AFL day - but put your sauce on safe surfaces with plates to catch mess.
  5. Be ready for spills. Keep ready some clean cloths in the kitchen for spills and portable stain removers for more disastrous accidents – cleaning up stains quickly saves frustration later! If any serious carpet stains or messes do happen, look at getting a cleaner in.
  6. Contain your party area. Keeping guests to one or two zones means you don’t have to find surprise dirty napkins in the living room two days down the track.
  7. Get on and get it done. As soon as your guests have left double check for anything that needs immediate attention, like stains, then pack the trash and stack the dishwasher so you can run it overnight. Don’t sit down to rest or you won’t want to start again! Getting these few things done won’t take you long and will cut down the load significantly on Sunday (when everything is harder).

If you need a hand with the post-party load or professional help with stains or ovens, you can find your local cleaner on Look Local WA
