Creative kitchen storage solutions

Having a ‘type A’ personality, one of my biggest pet peeves is a cluttered kitchen. I crave order and organisation in my kitchen, where every appliance and utensil has a designated place where it belongs.

Smart storage options can be the distinguishing factor between a tidy and organised kitchen versus a cluttered and chaotic kitchen.

Kitchen storage options are a particularly important consideration when designing a smaller kitchen with a limited amount of space. Traditional storage options include corner cabinets, below as well as overhead cupboards and shelving. However, if this is not sufficient why not get creative? The team at Look Local WA have put together some unique and creative kitchen storage solutions below.

Add a crockery drawer – Do you hate that uncomfortable feeling of reaching above your head or bending down to lift a stack of plates from the cupboard? Opt for a pull out drawer instead. Take organisation to the next level by using wooden dividers to organise different size plates.

Pull out chopping board – My chopping board is one of those kitchen utensils that I just cannot live without. Consider installing a pull out chopping board strategically located above a rubbish bin drawer. By cutting through a hole in the chopping board you can easily sweep food scraps straight into the rubbish bin below.

Door storage board – Are you looking for a cool and functional way to store kitchen utensils? You will absolutely love this cost effective and out of the box door storage board idea. Simply install hooks onto a door and hang your kitchen utensils off the hooks.

Book shelf storage units – When it comes to kitchen storage you can never have enough cupboards. What do you do though when you can no longer fit everything into your cupboards? Use a bookshelf to easily access everyday cooking items for added convenience.

Roll out canned food cabinet – This inexpensive roll out cabinet is both practical and extremely easy to put together. All you need is some wooden boards and a set of wheels to create this super cool cabinet to store canned goods that don’t need to be refrigerated. What makes this roll out food cabinet such a smart storage solution is that it can hold a large number of perishables without taking up a ton of space. Simply store it alongside your fridge!

Magnetic spice shelf – If your kitchen cabinets and drawers are already quite full, you may want to consider storing spices underneath your kitchen shelf. Simply use a magnetic strip under your shelves.
